and Internet porn use
NetValue, an organization that tracks Internet usage primarily in European countries, reported in January 2001 that 4% of adult site accesses in France were by children under the age of 14 and 31.3% were by people ages of 15-24. In the UK, those numbers were 6.3% and 29.4% respectively. (http://www.netvalue.com/)
In a press release dated December 19, 2000 NetValue also re-ported that 27.5% of minors (17 and under and not limited to Europeans) online visited an adult site in September 2000, and that 21.2% of those minors were 14 or younger. Another interesting twist to the numbers is that 40.2% of all minors visiting adult sites during that period were young women. NetValue noted an increase in traffic to adult sites by minors during the first 2 months of summer vacation while the Internet population remained relatively even. As they returned to school in September, unique visitors to these sites by minors decreased by 8.5% from August.

Your Children & Pornography: A Guide for Parents
Are you concerned about your children using pornography? Perhaps you have found your son's hidden "stash" of magazines or videos. What do you do now? Your Children & Pornography: A Guide for Parents takes a candid look at this problem and offers practical, but hard-hitting advice.
Who it is for...
Your Children & Pornography: A Guide for Parents was written for the parent who knows or suspects that their adolescent or teenaged child is using pornography. Even though the context of the booklet is centered on moms, the content will be helpful for any parent or guardian who discovers that he or she is in the same position.
Why it was written...
Your Children & Pornography: A Guide for Parents was written because we do not want any child to have to travel down the same road that we have traveled. We do not want to see the destructive nature of pornography addiction manifesting itself in families. We do not want parents and future wives or children to experience the fallout of a husband or father's lifelong addiction to pornography. This booklet is part of our proactive effort to stop pornography addiction before it has a chance to start.
Quotes from Your Children & Pornography: A Guide for Parents...
"...Sexually suggestive advertising in print and television media, sexually graphic music videos and cds, and prime-time television programs that portray sexual situations and blatantly toss about sexual innuendos all contribute to a decreased awareness of what should and should not be acceptable sexual behavior. Boys, through their regular diet of sexually suggestive material see women as objects designed solely for their physical satisfaction. They see men as acceptable alternatives to women for sexual companions..."
"...The mother who suspects that her son or daughter might be using pornography should not be surprised at their denial. And their denial should definitely not be the end of the investigative trail. Mothers want to believe that their child has been honest with them, and are sometimes hurt or angry when the child has not been honest. While lying is not a behavior that should be casually accepted of the child, in the case of a child who is suspected of using pornography the lie should be seen as a symptom of a greater problem, and not as the problem itself..."
